Venkat Gopalakrishnan

Venkat Gopalakrishnan, also known as "Gopal" came to Canada from India in 1982, a year after marrying his wife, Sudha. Gopal works as a Professor of Pharmacology. Gopal and Sudha have a daughter who is a Journalist/Editor for the CBC, and three granchildren aged 10, 12 and 14. In 2018 Gopal's health began to deteriorate and in 2020 he needed to go on peritoneal dialysis. During that time, his wife, Sudha was worked up to be a living donor for him. Sudha was found to be a suitable match and even during COVID, they were able to proceed with the transplant and receive amazing care from the team. Gopal says he will always do whatever he can to support others and help because of the amazing care he receives. He is incredibly grateful.
